September 6, 2023: Weekly Rainfall Recap and Rain Outlook

 

At the beginning of the week, Tasmania experienced the passage of a cold front, resulting in weekly rainfall ranging from 50 to 100 mm in the western part of the state.


In south-western Western Australia and north-eastern Victoria, cold fronts brought about weekly rainfall totals of 25 to 50 mm.


Meanwhile, local thunderstorm activity in north-eastern New South Wales and south-eastern Queensland contributed to weekly rainfall totals in the range of 25 to 50 mm.


Across much of southern Australia, weekly rainfall totals remained modest, generally falling below 10 mm.


The highest weekly rainfall recorded at a Bureau of Meteorology gauge occurred at Mount Read in Tasmania, where 77.4 mm was measured.


For the daily rainfall record at a bureau gauge, Dieckmans Bridge Alert in Queensland reported 47.0 mm up to 9 am on September 4.


However, the tropical regions experienced little to no rainfall during this period.
