The eagerly awaited clash between India and Pakistan in this year's ICC Men's Cricket World Cup has been moved to October 14, and adjustments to the details of eight other matches have also been made.
The highly-anticipated India-Pakistan World Cup fixture, originally set for October 15, needed to be rescheduled due to its overlap with the commencement of the Navratri festival, a widely celebrated event in Gujarat.
In response, law enforcement agencies advised the Board of Control for Cricket in India to make necessary adjustments. Consequently, some other match details have also been changed. For instance, England's match against Afghanistan in Delhi, initially scheduled for Saturday, October 14, will now take place a day later on Sunday, October 15.
Similarly, Pakistan's match against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad has been moved from Thursday, October 12 to Tuesday, October 10. Australia's significant match against South Africa in Lucknow has been pushed back by 24 hours to Thursday, October 12 from its original date of Friday, October 13.
Likewise, New Zealand's game against Bangladesh, originally planned as a day match for October 14 in Chennai, has been shifted to Friday, October 13, and will be played as a day-night encounter.
At the beginning of the tournament, a minor alteration involves the timing of England's match against Bangladesh in Dharamsala. The fixture has transitioned into a day match with a start time of 10:30 AM (local time) instead of the initially planned day-night match.
Towards the conclusion of the league stage, there are three changes involving double-header matches scheduled for Sunday, November 12. These have been moved a day earlier to Saturday, November 11, featuring Australia vs Bangladesh in Pune at 10:30 AM and England vs Pakistan in Kolkata at 2:00 PM.
Additionally, India's last league game against the Netherlands has been rescheduled from November 11 to November 12. This day-night clash will be held in Bengaluru.
The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup commences on October 5 with the clash between 2019 finalists England and New Zealand at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The tournament concludes with the final at the same venue on November 19.
