Chelsea's Injury Update: Benoit Badiashile, who has been sidelined due to injury for the past three months, is set to make a return to action in the upcoming weeks as the Blues prepare to welcome him back
Chelsea defender Benoit Badiashile has provided a positive update on his recovery progress from a substantial injury that has kept him sidelined since May.
The 22-year-old suffered a significant hamstring injury just four games before the conclusion of the previous season, causing him to miss the last month of matches. Initially slated for a four-month absence, sources indicate that his rehabilitation has been going well and he's edging closer to a return.
His impact was immediately felt when he joined the team, starting ten out of 18 available games following his arrival from Monaco in January for a fee around £35 million. His absence towards the season's end was deeply felt, as Chelsea failed to secure a victory in the three matches without him.
Throughout his 11 appearances, Chelsea only suffered one loss, managing to win four games during what was a challenging season. However, in the eight out of ten games he didn't participate in, the team experienced defeats.
He hasn't had a proper chance to showcase his abilities to manager Mauricio Pochettino yet. Owing to his ongoing recovery from a long-term injury, Badiashile was excluded from the pre-season tour squad, along with Marcus Bettinelli, Wesley Fofana, and Armando Broja.
Nonetheless, there's promising news for the rest of the season, as he continues to make strides towards a full recovery. Badiashile recently posted images on Twitter showing himself at Cobham training facility and outdoors on the field. One of the pictures features him with a ball at his feet, signaling progress in his journey back to full fitness.

Chelsea is set to kick off their 2023/24 season with a match against Liverpool on Sunday, August 13. However, they will be missing key players, including Badiashile, who was absent from pre-season, and Christopher Nkunku, who recently underwent knee surgery after sustaining an injury against Borussia Dortmund. Nkunku's recovery period might extend up to four months.
As the new season begins, both of these French international players will be sidelined, unable to actively contribute to the team's early matches. Nonetheless, Badiashile has set his sights on returning to action before the end of September. Rumors suggest he might even be in contention for the home game against Luton on August 25.
