Mohammad Rizwan: Handling Pressure Key to Success in India-Pakistan Asia Cup Clash on September/02/2023.
Ahead of the highly anticipated India-Pakistan match scheduled for September 2 in the 2023 Asia Cup, Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan emphasized that the team that can better manage pressure will emerge victorious.
The clash between India and Pakistan is set to take place on Saturday, September 2, at Sri Lanka's Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. This encounter marks an important beginning for both teams, serving as a lead-up to the ODI World Cup 2023, which is slated for October and November in India.
Speaking about the intense rivalry, Mohammad Rizwan shared his perspective on the match, stating that the team's ability to handle pressure will be a deciding factor. During an interview with Star Sports, Rizwan acknowledged the strengths and weaknesses of both teams.
"India is a strong team, and we are also strong. Each team has its own set of strengths and weaknesses. With the eyes of the world upon us, this match holds immense pressure. In my opinion, the distinguishing factor between a star player and an ordinary international player is experience. The team that handles pressure better will come out as the winner," Rizwan expressed in a segment shared by Star Sports across their social media platforms.
As part of their preparations, Pakistan is already in Sri Lanka, having recently concluded a 3-match ODI series against Afghanistan. The team, led by Babar Azam, has ascended to the top spot in the ODI rankings in anticipation of the continental tournament, commencing on August 30. Pakistan's opening match in the tournament will be against Nepal.
The last encounter between India and Pakistan in ODIs was during the 2019 World Cup, where Rohit Sharma's splendid 140 off 113 balls propelled India to victory. In pursuit of a target of 337 runs, Pakistan, led by Sarfaraz Ahmed at the time, fell short by 89 runs through the D/L method. Adverse weather conditions had affected the game, prompting a revised target of 302 runs in 40 overs for Pakistan.
