Angus Cloud, widely known for his poignant portrayal of a sensitive drug dealer on HBO's Euphoria, has passed away, leaving his viewers heartbroken and his promising film career cut short. According to his family and colleagues, Angus Cloud died on Monday in Oakland, Calif., where he was found in his family's home. The cause of his death remains undisclosed.
The family revealed that Angus had been grappling with mental health challenges and was deeply mourning the loss of his father, Conor Hickey, who passed away in May and was recently laid to rest in Ireland, his birthplace
In a statement cited by The Associated Press, his family shared, "Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health, and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence."
With his distinct ginger hair, Cloud effortlessly won the hearts of fans as he portrayed the beloved character Fezco "Fez" O'Neill on Euphoria. As the laconic drug dealer, he endeared himself to the audience while desperately trying to convince his friend Rue Bennett (Zendaya) to break free from drug use, all the while facing a multitude of his own personal struggles.

Javon "Wanna" Walton, who portrayed Ashtray, Fez's younger brother in the show, shared a touching photo of them embracing, with the poignant tagline, "Rest easy, brother."

Cloud shot from obscurity to fame
Cloud's journey to his renowned role began when a casting director spotted him in New York City. Initially skeptical about being "discovered" and suspicious of potential scams, he gradually understood the type of character the show's producers envisioned for him.
During an interview with
i-D, he shared his initial thoughts, saying, "Because in my mind I was like, they stopped me because I look like I could be a star?" But he quickly realized it was because he had the appearance of a drug dealer.
Despite his growing fame, Cloud humbly acknowledged that his own personality and experiences are vastly different from Fez's character. Still, his fans might perceive them both to possess the same low-key cool.
At New York Fashion Week, Cloud caused a buzz when he casually appeared in the front row next to Megan Thee Stallion, munching on a bag of Flamin' Hot Cheetos. While the reaction from fans surprised him, he was nonchalant, stating, "I didn't know that that was something that anyone would think twice about. I was just having a snack at the show."
